PCAPS in 2025: Milestones for the year ahead

Happy New Year’s from the PCAPS team! Though 2025 has just started, we have many exciting plans already underway for this year. As we actively prepare for these milestones and many more, we are happy to see that 2025 is already slated to be another ambitious and inspiring year for the PCAPS community.

Below are a few upcoming milestones that we wanted to highlight and promote:

  1. Launch of our PCAPS webinar series in early 2025

  2. Presentation about PCAPS at the 5th International Polar Year (2032-2033) session at Arctic Frontiers in Tromsø in January 2025

  3. Forthcoming paper on the ambitions of PCAPS - expected to be published in early 2025 in the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society (BAMS)

  4. SVALMIZ workshop in Oslo in February 2025

  5. Kick-off of two WWRP-PCAPS endorsed projects (T-SCAN and FAST in the beginning of 2025)

  6. Support in planning the 2027 WWRP Conference in Brazil

  7. PCAPS Annual SG Meeting in Cambridge, April 2025, at the British Antarctic Survey, plus an Open Session for interested parties and collaborators

As always, we welcome new partnerships that help support PCAPS goal to improve environmental forecasting in the polar regions. Applications for project endorsements are also always welcomed. We look forward to strengthening and growing the PCAPS community even further this year.
